Let’s start with a step by step guide on how to build your list.

Step 1: Offer

You’ve got to consider your offer. This can include very simple things such as:

  • Blog update
  • PDFs
  • Mp3 audios

The goal is to offer something of value so you can get their emails and start building a list.

Step 2: The Form

You have to have the mechanics. So how do you do that?

  • Use Aweber or Mailchimp if you’re just starting out.
  • For more advanced features, try Infusionsoft or Ontraport

Step 3: The Ask

Next, you have to ask, and you can do this using a popup.

Be careful with making sure that your popups don’t appear intrusive to your readers. A lot of how users respond to it is based on how relevant the popup is. If it offers value, yes, they will give you what you ask from them.

Another thing you can do is to use the sidebars and post a specific offer.

Finally, use paid media–that’s how you can get results fast.

Now, for the tools that you can use when trying to build your list.
