Digital Marketing This Week: Getting Started With Facebook Ads – Episode 29

It’s all about how to get started with Facebook ads in this episode’s Digital Marketing This Week…

Today you'll discover how to get you familiar with Facebook’s business portal, how to get the best rates for ads and a strategy you can use to get you started for less than $10.

As always, the best way to get this info is to watch the recording (below).  But, if you don't have the time, feel free to browse the rest of this summary.

This Week's Episode:

What I want to show you first is a very recent change with Facebook–

It used to be that you could get started by logging in with your personal account. But what Facebook is now doing is they silo’d the business aspect of Facebook (now it's located at business.facebook.com.  (I went over a live tour of the dashboard in the full video.)

Everything is going to get managed from this dashboard. If you have other team members as well who need access, you can easily invite them to manage certain sections on the account.

Now, when you have your Facebook business page up and running, the easiest way to get it out there is to promote your page.

It’s meant to attract likes–putting it on newsfeeds and placing it on right-hander columns to introduce the page to people who might be interested in it.

Once you’re ready to actually move into paying for ads, you’re going to have to move into your ad account and if you have an existing one, it should automatically transfer; if you don’t already have an account, it’s easy to set it up. As soon as you do, you'll get access to the Facebook “Ad Manager.”

How To Get Started With Facebook Ads - Ad Manager Campaigns

  • Campaigns is the default view and where you see all your existing campaigns.
  • Reports gives you various reports on your preferred date range.
  • Audience Insights tells you what Facebook knows about your audience. (Pretty fun to play with!)
  • Settings is where your basic account setting are.
  • Billing is where you adjust your payment methods.
  • Conversion Tracking is where you setup your conversion pixels.
  • Power Editor is an advanced way of managing ads.
  • Audiences gives you an option to seek out targeted audiences.

Check out the video for a more comprehensive overview of these elements.

Setting up a “Like” campaign is the easiest way to get started with Facebook.  It won't make you money right away, but it will help you get familiar with how the platform works.

When you go to your dashboard, go into your company's Facebook page and click on the “promote page” button (normally this is an option on the left side of your page).  From there, just follow Facebook's step-by-step directions.

Toward the end of the video I went through this process so you can see how it's done.

Be sure to check out the entire video and if you have questions, feel free to leave it in the comment section below.
