Online Marketer’s Guide to Writer’s Block

If you found yourself here, then it means you’ve hit some sort of wall…writer’s block. If so, you’ve come to the right place.

There will be days when you feel like you’ve exhausted all your content options and have nothing to offer except the same old article. And this guide is meant to help you work through it by giving ideas on how you can create more content to spur marketing for your blog or website.

Below is a list of ideas to get your creative juices flowing and get you started:

6 Out of 10 Ain't Bad

About 6 out of 10 people are visual learners.

Take your old articles and shift it from written content into something visual–

Infographics are engaging, easily shareable and can easily summarize existing articles into a single-page, downloadable document.

Piktochart is an online tool that can help you create an infographic with just a few clicks. There’s a free version that gives you access to three basic themes, but a paid account ($29) gives you access to more templates and customizing options.

Slideshare is also a great tool that allows you to convert articles into slides, which you can use as supplementary content or upload on the site to drive more traffic towards your site.

Videos are also a great way take your slides and have it play as a video on YouTube for added traffic or as a way to complement content on your site.

Old School Is Cool

The Internet has given you numerous ways to create and repurpose content, but sometimes, it helps to go old school.

Downloadable PDFs are a great way to give your users some value added information. A summary of an old blog post, a tip sheet or a checklist are some of the easiest to produce.

PDF books made up of a collection of old blog posts is also a great way to generate interest towards your site.

Lesson Plans

Share what you know–

Short courses sent via email to loyal subscribers gives you the chance to become top-of-mind among your users, just as long as you make sure that you’re providing them with useful information.

White papers or research papers regarding an industry trend make great additions to your site’s content as a way to build credibility.

Mix and Mingle

Social media is a hotbed for ideas.

Facebook groups/ forums/ Twitter, basically any place where your users or target audience gathers is a great place to get ideas on content. Get involved and be part of the conversation, find out what they’re talking about.

Pick Up The Phone

Gather all your best people or most active users and start recording…

Teleconferencing, which is as simple as getting several people on the phone (or Skype) for a full conference regarding a specific topic, means you can record the discussion and make available via audio or video on your site as added content.

Expert Opinion

Here’s where you get to use your connections.

Do an interview with an expert on a particular topic and use it as material to create a post on your blog. Take it a step further and invite your users to do a live Q&A.

Point The Camera On Yourself

Establish yourself as an authority.

For all your speaking engagements or on-ground tutorial sessions, record it and make it available on your site or blog as a video.
