This Week's Episode:

Here's a quick overview of what we talked about….

Which Live Events To Attend

As a digital marketer, you should know that there are some really great conferences for you to choose from.

Digital Marketing This Week - Which live events to attend

BIgger events would include Traffic & Conversion Summit, which is coming up and is all about ways to build traffic, create funnels and converts. And Affiliate Summit, which is a massive show that just gets bigger and bigger every year.

But don’t be too quick to disregard smaller events. Go to www.meetup.com and seek out people with similar goals and interests so you can utilize its untapped potential.

There are lots of others, but these are some of the biggest and easiest that I want to draw your attention to.

Now, when it comes to attending live events, you want to have a strategy going into it.

What's Your Strategy?

Digital Marketing This Week - What is your strategy for live events

If you don’t have an expectation of what you want to accomplish, you’re not going to know what to aim for.

These events are expensive, and you want to make sure that you get your money’s worth.

Next, remember that you have to bring some essentials to these events.

  • Business cards are important–and having a well-designed one, from a company called www.moo.com, goes a long way.
  • For those who use InfusionSoft, download the app called Snap, which allows you to take a picture of the card and create a digital copy on InfusionSoft. You can also tag the contacts you gathered at a specific event and send them an automated email.

During live events, it’s also important that you participate.

How To Participate

The question really is, how do you connect with the right people and doing so at a level that they will remember you.
Making them remember you is fairly straightforward. The way to make them remember you is to follow-up…something as simple as an email or a text.

Connecting is a little trickier.

How To Connect

Digital Marketing This Week - How to connect at live events

This comes down specifically to the people around you and next to you; and remember that it’s not just about the two of you, it’s about connecting both of your networks.

Build rapport by by asking them questions about themselves: how did they get started, what was their motivation, what was thier biggest success, what have they seen working, what have they seen to not work…and be genuinely interested.

Share a little bit about what’s going on in your world, but mostly ask about them.

Now, you can also help someone you’ve connected with connect with others to deepen the connection and keep you top of mind.

Meals are also a good opportunity to connect with people during these events and the great thing about it is that you’re not necessarily just talking about work or business during these times. Over breakfast or lunch or even drinks after the event, conversation will now evolve towards more personal topics that serves to deepen your connection with these new contacts.

As you build your network though, you have to think about whether these are the right individuals to build connections with. How can you tell? By figuring how much action they are taking to achieve their goals.

Another important thing to remember is how to stay in touch with these connections you’ve made at live events.

How To Stay In Touch

Digital Marketing This Week - How to stay in touch from live events

We’ve talked about email and texting but other non-traditional efforts to keep in touch are finding people on social media or maybe engaging on their blog or podcast; You can automate the process by using Snap of IFTTT. Basically, you want to give a signal that you are interested in what they have to say and want to stay in touch.

At The End Of The Day…

Digital Marketing This Week - Live events help to grow your business

Live events are when you go out there and meet people and build lifelong relationships. So if you have limited funds and you’re choosing between buying a new course or a live event? Go to the live event.

With that, I want to remind everyone reading this that action brings results so take one idea from this blog and put it into action!
